Absolutely bonkers choice to screen this with zero context as the ‘blind date’ secret screening. (A solid two minutes of intro time were devoted to a 5 second shot in Disney’s THE THREE LITTLE PIGS.) Nitrate, I love you, but… (35mm w/ soft subs, “Nitrate Picture Show” at the George Eastman Museum.)

I’ve usually just been giving a ‘heart’ to anything I’m rewatching (even if it’s one of my favorite movies of all time, which this is) but THE SERVANT is forever new. It’s mysteries only grow deeper, it’s pleasures only get kinkier. Yesterday I was on an Amtrak train that was delayed for over two hours bc of a fire of unknown origin, during the wait, a enger was arrested for pulling a knife. The world is an unhinged place, control is an illusion. This was the movie I needed tonight. (Blu-ray.)
