Mission: Impossible is possibly my favourite film franchise. I love how the first five were so varied in style, so at home in their own identity. I love how the McQuarrie films feel like a response to every other franchise leaning into ever-larger budgets with ever-diminishing results. I love how it feels like the only franchise with adults still at the helm.

It gives me no pleasure to report, therefore, that The Final Reckoning is a hot mess.
