Matt Singer’s review published on Letterboxd:
Bong Joon-ho loves a wildly over-the-top sci-fi allegory where a major superhero actor takes a wrecking ball to his image of unflappable cool and moral righteousness. And I guess I’m a sucker for that kind of thing too.
That said, this is a lot of different movies happening at once and I did not love all of them equally. I was far more enamored with the section that becomes The Odd Throuple in Space than Mark Ruffalo’s repetitive schtick, which feels like a copy of a copy of a copy of a sharper political satire. On the other hand, maybe that is form following function. A movie with 18 nearly identical protagonists with a few subtle differences of personality should probably have some fluctuations of mood and tone of its own as well.
