A film that I endlessly adore. A film brimming with excellence and lessons about separation of the heart and the head. A movie about the importance of embracing your own path with uncompromising belief. The necessity of both independency and codependency alike. A love letter to nostalgia, the bitter and warm and overwhelmingly comforting falsehood of nostalgia.

It’s the sleeping in not for rest but to stay in
the relief that your dreams hold. It’s the constellation’s of a future…

Dune: Part Two

I have never seen a movie more than once in a cinema, never more than once in one week and never on my own. I left the cinema today completely lost for words, completely blown away and almost in a state of shock, even on my second viewing.

Denis Villeneuve has balls of fucking steel and along with the genius of Greig Fraser and a monumental Hans Zimmer score, completely reinvents everything we know about science fiction and visual storytelling.…

Absolutely. Dark and twisted throughout - doesn’t once try and spoon feed a single second. Gothic and operatic. Just simply brilliant. It took me a minute to get to the great Disney films on this watch-through but finally we’ve made it.  A 5 star yesterday and this today. Bloody great!

Everyone listen up and listen good. This stupid little animated flick is nothing short of a (and I don’t say this lightly) masterpiece and I will fight anyone who disagrees.

I’m not remotely a Disney-head whatsoever, infact I don’t love a ton of them, however while attempting to tick off the big 63 I thought I’d rewatch this one. I have scattered memories of watching this as a child but always found it a little creepy and boring, how my…

My heart sank a million times and I’m still waiting for it to come back up.

No one needs to hear me ramble on about how this is a complete masterpiece. Or how Hitchcock just creates the ultimate feast of tension, horror, love, twists and ultimately turns. A masterminds study on a spiralling subconscious ravaged by grief. Visually, as gorgeous as Kim Novak in this flick, stunning. I could talk for hours about this film…the camerawork, editing, script, location, sound…

Taste of Cherry

Oxford describes beauty as “pleasing the senses or mind aesthetically”. I don’t consider that a just or fair definition. Taste of Cherry encapsulates why entirely.

Beauty isn’t in the stars or lamp lit city streets. It isn’t in the fanciest restaurant or finest painting money can buy. It’s in the soul. It’s in the people who light them lamps and wash your dishes when you’re done with them. It’s found within the people that clear your table. Beauty is a…
