What Excites Us | 2025 Atlanta Film Festival

We're taking a break in our regular programming to host the 49th Atlanta Film Festival! It will be held at the Plaza Theatre and Tara Theatre from April 24th to May 4th. us for 11 exciting days filled with inspiring films from around the globe, engaging s and discussions featuring industry professionals, and vibrant community parties where you can connect with fellow film enthusiasts.

To help guide you, the Plaza staff have assembled a shortlist of what we're excited about!

Meta Takes One | Friday, April 25, 2025 6:00 PM

"Movies about cinema and filmmakers and the obsessive lengths artists will go for perfection are a kind of long-standing metatextual ritual for the artform, so it's incredibly exciting to know that Meta Take One seeks to extend that history and recontextualize it through a local Black perspective, especially within a community as diverse and vibrant as Atlanta's film community." - Chrishaun Baker

Also looking forward to: Friendship | Saturday, May 3, 2025 7:00 PM (Tickets)

Experimental Shorts | Sunday, April 27, 2025 1:30 PM (Tickets)

"I cut my teeth programming Experimental Shorts at ATLFF, so while I may be partial, there's a good reason for it. Film festivals are a great way to be rewarded and challenged artistically, so I've always come away inspired. The 2025 team continues to showcase amazing work, so do yourself a favor and check it out. If you find yourself with a new ion for avant-garde film, be sure to watch THE BIG SCREEN by Film Love on May 29." — Greg Bishop
