Leesah Sea’s review published on Letterboxd:
THE WILD PARTY stars “it girl” and silent film star Clara Bow in her first “talkie”. Directed by Dorothy Arzner, this largely female cast sees a bunch of women breaking free from the usual strict rules of the all-girls university that they attend. Bow is the standout star here and Arzner’s camera feels like it’s in love with her. It’s a fun little romp that I found to be a quick and easy watch.
Another first within the film: the boom mic. Arzner and her crew invited it by using a fishing pole to hang a mic over the actors in a scene instead of relying on the actors hitting their marks near stationary mics. That’s innovation, my friends.
