Jacob Mallott’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm all about the character designs. More round-featured cartoony anime please. I want Astroboy-meets-Popeye little guys all day long.
Otherwise it's...fine? This cost more than Satoshi Kon's entire filmography but it's not going to stick with me a third as much as any one of his works. Weirdly static, with awkward iris wipes and fades that give the feel of a 1990s JRPG more than a cinematic work.
