Michelle Hendley is so phenomenal in this film, I really wish she had a full career acting after this! Boy Meets Girl is a film I think I should be having more discenment with my rating, as there are elements that are pretty unforgivable, such as giving a violent transphobe an arc of forgiveness, a layer of cis-gaze clouding the whole film leading to some cringeworthy dialogue, and a disappointing ending, there are moments of real authenticity that shine bright. A lot of my high around this film is how I felt it subverted expectations about the romantic love interest, but if only it maintained them.
