Initially I thought this would be like a minor 70s genre gem. But by the end it emerged as a slowed down Coen bros film with about half the laughs taken out.

Exorcist level scary. Couldn’t even watch a lot of it - felt genuinely traumatising. These guys are the real deal. I loved Talk to Me and this is as good if not better. So glad I watched on the big screen.

This is a godsend for those of us that love confusing films - both the aesthetic experience of them and their puzzle nature. Even the character development seems to be happening in reverse or out of time. The idea of narrative/drama as what a character knows, what the other knows and what the other knows the character knows is suspended and thrown into disarray. ‘Knowledge is divided, ignorance is our ammunition’.
