Danielle’s review published on Letterboxd:
Morning Letterboxd peeps, i have news to share. Yesterday I drove 3.5 hours from Northern Virginia to Philadelphia to see Adam Rehmeier’s Dinner in America. While I had seen the film before, I hadn’t seen it in theaters and plus Kyle Gallner was doing a Q&A with the rest of the cast and crew. The screening was awesome, tons of laughing and the Q&A was even better. Kyle talked about a few things with the most interesting bit being how he based his character off of Henry Rollins when he was with the band Black Flag. The best part was after though when I got to meet him. He’s a super nice, charming guy, exactly what you’d expect if you follow his socials. I told him I was out here repping him on Threads since he’s not on there and got a fist bump in return. Then we very quickly talked about THE ENGER, one of my favorite films ever. I told him how much his character, Benson meant to me and he said he loved Benson. Truly one of the best moments of my life. Imagine, I watched that film for the first time on 2/21/24 and as many of you know, became obsessed with both the film and him. I can’t necessarily put my finger on it but Benson is a misunderstood tragedy that I understood at some core level. Imagine, not even a year later that I get to meet that guy that brought to life the first character to really get underneath my skin in years. How lucky am I?
