That's where my will to live begins
That's where my need for you begins
That's where my love for you begins
My love for you will never end

Another concert that really should've happened a long time ago: Swans.

Been listening to them for 12 or 13 years, and finally got to see them, and woof, what an experience.

I forgot to bring my earplugs, but fortunately the venue had some because holy fucking shit 40,000, they were LOUD. I'd heard they were, but I was fully not prepared; the opening song made my entire body and insides vibrate so hard I noclipped through the floor and found God's debug menu.

Michael Gira has a... very fascinating stage presence. Like a conductor of the damned. (My mom said it looked like the rest of the band was being held hostage)

Sadly got nowhere near as many videos as usual. Staff came out before the show and said we could record, but that the band was vocal about people not recording "the whole set," so I wasn't sure where the line was beyond which Michael Gira would leap from the stage and tear my throat with his bare teeth, or suchlike; especially since I was right up front. (2 of the 4 videos I recorded were of much quieter parts, which truly do not represent the bulk of the concert, which, I cannot stress enough, made me sweat bullets from noise alone)

Great show. Very intense.

Opener was Norman Westberg, who is a member of Swans; disappointing, tbh. Can only be described as "drone, but boring."

Here's the Insta post with vids (including a few small recordings from mom, on the balcony).

Mom's thoughts: she didn't like the concert, except for their performance of No More of This; rest was too loud for her. I sent her a picture of one of the t-shirts they had on sale, which, to my surprise, she ended up buying, telling me she "had to have it." (Though neither of us know when we will ever be able to wear them; I bought one too!)
