Gyllenhaal is very good here, and I like changing Dalton from a zenned-out philosopher to a closet psychopath. He single-handedly makes this fun to watch. The problem is that Liman is straight-up terrible, and the choice here to slather the fights in hidden digital cuts and to use VFX to sell the simplest hits that any trained stunt performer could pull off is baffling and fatal,
