Zen - Grogu and Dust Bunnies

SUPER intriguing juxtaposition of something so barebones concept-wise releasing concurrently with Andor, objectively one of the most thought-inducing and complexly driven stories of the entire franchise.

Simple, charming, and with considerably less to say than I think anyone was anticipating when that collab announcement dropped. My assumption/hope is that Zen is simply a teasing, wink of a sneak peek to something more narratively driven.

But if I’m wrong, this is still a sweet little blink of a watch.

The Radiator Springs 500½

I genuinely watched this so I could use it in my diary. Brief thoughts: this was right in that sweet spot of childishly silly.

Now why I’m really here: I’m less than 10 away from 500 followers and I just wanted to take a second to say thank you all so much for following me. It’s been a little more than a year and a half since I ed letterboxd and I never, ever thought I would be so in…

I have never seen hand painted animation before. It is absolutely stunning. Paired with the beautiful score, this had me absolutely awestruck.

Part of the ShortsTV Oscar Animated Shorts Nomination featurette. There were too more shorts after this one but this will be the last that review because the other two were so brief.

The animation was beautifully done, some of the best I’ve ever seen AND This celebrated the death of the bourgeoisie!! What more could a gal want?  Such a fun mix of charming and unsettling.

I typically try to avoid writing reviews for short films, almost entirely because of their brevity. Opera has floored me in a way though that I have to express.

I’ve been watching it on a loop, lulled into its mechanic rhythm, eyes glued to a different element each time. I’m convinced you could watch Opera on repeat for hours and find something new every single time.

A true behemoth of what animation can be when made with the right hands.

Thoroughly impressed by the execution of this. A great companion piece to One Child Nation.

Now that I’ve officially seen all the nominated animated shorts, while I do love this, I would say this is the weakest of all of them
