The cast is what led to me placing The Falling on my watchlist long ago and it is mostly certainly one of the driving reasons of why I enjoyed what I did of the film.
I applaud the attempts at constructing a less than straightforward dilemma that relies heavily on visual style and atmosphere but YIKES, does this go in a direction that feels so off balance and troubling. It almost feels as though instead of exploring a genuine mystery, the film tries to be as disturbing as possible in the most alarming of ways. What could have been a really interesting dissection of female obsession and sexuality in the late-60s feels instead almost aggressive in its demented turns.
Not for me in the end but it still felt worth trying!
