Materialists is not your average romcom. I would call this a dramatic romance with some humor sprinkled in. I adored the writing, just listening to adults talk and say intelligent things is definitely a change of pace for this genre. The screenplay is full of clever observations and sharp wit. The acting is terrific and I especially thought Dakota Johnson was fantastic. The film loses some steam in third act and starts hitting the familiar romcom beats it had managed…
A delightful entry in the Wes Anderson filmography, albeit a minor work. There’s barely any plot, it’s just a blueprint to meet an array of colorful characters. It’s basically a collection of humorous scenes rather than a traditional cohesive story. This makes for an uneven journey but a mostly pleasant one. This may be one of Anderson’s silliest film to date and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I love the road, this is kind of a perfect job for me but my favorite free time thing is flatlining. Flatlining is when you technically lower your heart rate until, well, you’re dead, then you can catch a glimpse of the afterlife. I got the idea from the movie Flatliners, Joel Schumacher film shot by Jan de Bont. You know I try to fit in a F line sesh at least once a week.”

The IMAX sound was crazy intense and the visuals were beyond dazzling especially considering Nolan didn’t use any CGI. The score is exceptional and plays pretty much throughout the entirety of the film which helps keep the story engaging at all times. I didn’t know much about Oppenheimer except he is considered the father of the atomic bomb. There’s much more to his story and I was fascinated throughout.
This is an actor’s film, the cast does a fantastic job.…
